Chapter 11
Andrew
Itâs cold out but walking with Dylan keeps me warm. He jokes every now and then, pointing out floats that he loves and telling stories of the past few years that heâs been in attendance. He holds up the bag with the popcorn ball, excitement apparent on his face.
âThe old omega that makes these has been making them for as long as Iâve been coming. And Iâve been to pretty much every parade since I was a kid. He comes into the bar every now and then. Really nice guy. I love hearing his stories of how Fair Falls changes but has remained the same.â
My omega talks almost nonstop, mostly about the parade and the things heâs experienced while attending them. He likes to take my hand and twirl around, making me laugh more than I have in a while. Other people see his antics and smile, their eyes going soft when they witness his happiness.
While I donât think Iâll ever love the holiday season, I love how happy he is. How excited he is about every part of it. Even the thought of snow on Christmas Day makes him smile when most New Yorkers know itâs a time of dread.
âItâs so gorgeous, the freshly fallen snow,â he says dreamily. âWhen the streets are empty, and the snow untouched, it makes me feel like Iâm in a winter wonderland. Oh! Or like Iâm in a snow globe.â I chuckle at that since the snow globe float passed us a few minutes ago. âSeriously, itâs really nice. The city is shut down and itâs peaceful. I like to look out of the window with a mug of coffee or a glass mulled wine and just ⦠be.â
âThat sounds like a good time, actually. Iâd like to spend a night with you like that.â
His face breaks open in a wide smile and he twirls himself on my hand again. âLetâs do it, Scrooge.â
Pulling his back to my front, I kiss his neck, loving his small gasp. âI figured Iâd stop being Scrooge when I came to the parade with you.â
The husky chuckle from him warms my heart. âItâll take a bit more than that. But I like you being Scrooge. Thatâs why I started to like you. Never change, my grumpy alpha.â
Rolling my eyes, I pull him beside me and we walk the last few hundred meters to the booths. This year, instead of the floats parking on the lot, they make a slow circle around and will drive back to the starting point. Iâm glad because I know Dylan was worried about seeing every one of the floats and didnât think heâd be able to. His booth is positioned in such a way that he can see them all as they circle the area and make their way back the way they came.
âIâm so glad you came with me today,â he says when we make it to his booth. Bryce looks up with a relieved expression, making Dylan roll his eyes good naturedly.
